Katherine C.T. Steffe is the managing attorney of Yost & Baill’s Wisconsin Worker’s Compensation Subrogation Group and Auto Subrogation Group. In addition to her worker’s compensation and auto subrogation practice, she litigates property, and medical payments subrogation matters. Katherine enjoys the challenge her diverse subrogation practice offers and utilizes her defense litigation background to bring a unique perspective to subrogation cases. She appreciates the different facts and details which make up each case and particularly enjoys litigating cases which involve unique and complex fact patterns.
Prior to joining Yost & Baill, Katherine was employed by a well-respected firm in Wisconsin focusing on insurance defense matters, a prominent Iowa firm focusing on insurance defense litigation, worker’s compensation and professional liability cases, and clerked for the Honorable Joseph E. Smith in the 5th District Circuit Court of Iowa. Katherine received her juris doctorate with highest honors from Drake University Law School. During law school, Katherine worked at the Middleton Center for Children’s Rights, advocating for children’s rights in the court system and gaining valuable trial experience. She also put her editing and legal skills to use as Executive Editor of the Drake Journal of Agricultural Law and as a participant on the Arbitration Team. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Wisconsin – Madison, also with highest honors. While pursuing her undergraduate degree, Katherine served as President of the Legal Studies Association and enjoyed running as a member of the Wisconsin Track Club.
Katherine is a member of the National Association of Subrogation Professionals, and is currently serving as Co-Chair of the Iowa Chapter of NASP with Yost & Baill Associate Attorney Christopher Steffe. Their efforts in revitalizing the Iowa Chapter were recognized by NASP with a Chapter of the Year award, which was awarded at the NASP 2016 Annual Conference in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Outside of her legal practice, Katherine enjoys long-distance running, baking, and spending time with family and friends.
